May 23 rd 2022 For the past few months, we’ve been working hard at getting Solveig ready for our upcoming trip, to the Bahamas and beyond. We’ve been talking about this trip for some time now (ever since our return from the Bahamas in 2015), but now it is becoming a reality and the departure date set for mid-July, is approaching fast. On May 26 th Solveig will be launched. Before moving to our temporary location at East River Marina, a thorough check will then be done to ensure we have no leaks. Once on the dock at ERM, we will have the electrician complete a check of the electrical systems and install a 3 rd solar panel. We also will, while on the dock, start provisioning and getting the rest of our belongings onto Solveig. Over the last few weeks, we’ve painted on a barrier coat (International Interguard), followed by 3 coats of International Interspeed bottom paint. ...

New plans after Covid lockdowns.
"Man makes plans, God smiles" As everyone on the planet knows, plans have been made and plans have been changed. With us, we originally planned on leaving Nova Scotia in July 2020, Covid and lockdowns as a result, put a hold on those plans....a hold, not an end. We are moving ahead with our new plan of leaving Nova Scotia, to a departure "date" of July 2022. No scheduled return date, no fixed destination. Solveig has had a lot of work done to her over the past year (and more) and has a lot more to be done before launching. We are: replacing all the canvas, service the mast, check the standing rigging, replaced the antenna cable, installed a new windspeed transducer and windex, we've replace some plumbing, had new cushions made etc, etc.. This last fall we had the bottom blasted (water vapour spray) and in the spring we will put on 3 epoxy barrier coats and 4 coats of bottom paint. While this was happening, I serviced the Max-prop.
